Model programs are exemplary programs that actively demonstrate the highest standards of practice in the field of autism spectrum disorders. They provide the ideal opportunity for families and practitioners to observe evidence-based programming in action. Open to families, practitioners, organizations, and policy-makers, structured visits of model programs demonstrate what standards to look for in a program, and how to bring research into practice by successfully replicating an effective program. During onsite guided tours, professional staff highlight for visitors how a best-practices program functions and how much it can accomplish. Each 90-minute guided tour begins with an instructional overview of best practices and is followed by direct observation of working classrooms. Demonstrations at model classrooms on the East and West coast are currently available. The Center looks forward to collaborating with additional organizations to expand the number of model demonstration programs available throughout the country.
